About Me

Amy Brownell, MMT, MT-BC

Amy grew up Reading, PA, where she was active in playing the oboe in youth ensembles around the county.  She earned her Bachelors Degree in Music in Music Education from Ithaca College and her Masters Degree in Music Therapy from Shenandoah University.  She became a board certified music therapist and practiced music therapy for nine years in Connecticut, where she lived with her husband and dog.

Since moving closer to her hometown and settling York, PA in 2022 with her family, she has worked for the York YWCA in the Early Learning Center where she taught preschool-age children in the classroom and provided music enrichment groups to children in infant through preschool classrooms.  As Amy looked to extend her musical reach, she became involved in a creative arts outreach ministry through the First Presbyterian Church of York.  She also provides music enrichment groups for Shiloh UCC Early Learning Center on a weekly basis.  Furthermore, in October 2023, Amy began providing music therapy services as an independent contractor through The Center for Creative Arts and Play Therapy.

In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, reading, and completing jigsaw puzzles.  Since moving to York, she has also played oboe in the Spring Garden Band and with the York College Orchestra, as well as at First Presbyterian Church of York.
